Publicity shot taken before Gil Dodds ran his laps at the rally. The previous year, Dodd, a seminary student at the time, had broken the record (twice) for the indoor mile. During the rally, he was introduced by Johnson and then ran two demonstration laps around Soldier Field, after which he gave his testimony. Dodd was probably the star speaker at the very early YFC rallies. From left to right: Gil Dodds, George M. Wilson (who had started a YFC organization in Minneapolis, Minnesota and who gave the benediction at the Memorial Day Rally), Robert P. Evans (a Naval chaplain who spoke at the rally on behalf of the seventh War Bond drive) and William Erny (Chicago businessman and business manager of the Chicagoland YFC who also spoke on behalf of the bond drive at the rally). From the Papers of Torrey Johnson, Collection 285, photo album I.
